Use the first four weeks to clean and organize your stuff. Begin stocking up on the supplies needed to pack all your belongings safely, like heavy-duty boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, labels, markers, thick paper, etc.
Use this time to get rid of all the things you don’t really need. The less stuff you have to pack, the easier the move. Plan a garage sale or have your family and friends come around to take the things they like. Any excess stuff left over can be donated to nearby charities. Once you know how many belongings you have to pack, book a moving service.
You can begin packing away the lesser-used items in your home, this lightens the load when moving day comes around. Sign the lease on your new place or close the home sale around this time as well.
Week 5 to 6
Get your new home’s keys so that your belongings can be gradually unloaded there. Have any final repairs done to your old home to prepare it for the new owners/tenants. Begin packing more things, only leaving behind the essentials.
Organize your boxes and determine the ones that cannot go on the truck and are fragile in nature. These boxes can be loaded into your personal vehicle.

Week 7 is when you need to begin disassembling all the furniture. The process is quite exhausting, which is why you need to space it out over a week. The final two weeks aren’t exactly comfortable and you will need to do with what you have. Other than dealing with the furniture, use this week to pack all but your travel bags.
